Sharing our bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless, clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own. – Isaiah 58:7

At Holy Ground, our mission is devoted to moms. For Mother’s Day, we are proud and delighted to honor all the fabulous mothers and mother figures who were our role models, along with all the young moms in our program, who are such wonderful role models for their own little ones!

Holy Ground mourns the loss of Father Seamus Murtagh,
who went to his “forever home” on February 17, 2021.
Father Seamus believed deeply that we are called to serve during our lifetimes, and he had a special love for the homeless, about whom he said:
When you’re standing in front of a homeless person,
you’re standing on holy ground.
The inspiration for Holy Ground’s program grew out of Father Seamus’ unsurpassed compassion for the homeless, just as the idea for our name grew out of his quote.
Our mission has been blessed beyond measure by Father Seamus’ deep devotion to the homeless. We know that, without his inspiration, his vision and his determination to do more for those who have no home, our courageous young mothers and their children would not now be standing on holy ground.
We thank Father for leading us to serve, to honor one another, and to love one another. We will all miss Father but he has left an indelible imprint on our lives.
Why we so strongly believe in Holy Ground’s long-term, independent living model:
This 5-minute video depicts a theory of change from the Frontiers of Innovation community for achieving breakthrough outcomes for vulnerable children and families. It describes the need to focus on building the capabilities of caregivers and strengthening the communities that together form the environment of relationships essential to children’s lifelong learning, health, and behavior.
