Sharing our bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless, clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own. – Isaiah 58:7

After much discussion and prayerful reflection,
Holy Ground has decided that, given the extreme
transmissibility of the Omicron variant,
as well as to comply with the CDC’s recommendations
regarding indoor gatherings, we must
cancel our 2022 “A Shower for Shelter” luncheon
at the Kravis.
We trust that you understand how difficult a decision this was. Out of concern for the welfare of our loyal guests, though, we feel strongly that this is the best course of action.
However, please continue to save the date of Sunday, January 23! Our annual fundraiser, which had been scheduled for that date, will now be an online auction! Starting at noon on that day, you’ll be able to place your bids on our usual array of fabulous items and fun experiences. Up for bid will be a mini-vacation on Sanibel Island, dinner for four at the Breakers, baskets of food and wine, jewelry, collectible items, shopping gift certificates and much more.
Please stay tuned to this page and to our Facebook page for the link to register for this event. The auction will remain open for one week, and will close at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 30.
We look forward to your participation!
Should you wish to consider a donation to Holy Ground to support our mission of sheltering and mentoring homeless young mothers and their children, we would be deeply grateful. You can make a donation via the auction once it opens, through PayPal via our website, or by check, mailed to us at:

Holy Ground PBC is delighted to announce our new Executive Director!
Dr. Valerie K. Wright was hired in mid-September and since then has been busily learning about our organization. Dr. Wright comes to this position with a wealth of commitment, compassion and experience working with young women and mothers. She has served as a mentor in multiple organizations and as a volunteer. She feels deeply that her role is her calling and views it as her life’s purpose.
“I feel privileged to be able to join this gem of an organization. Holy Ground PBC is mission-focused and client-centered, and the board, staff, volunteers and especially our clients have already made quite an impression on me. It is an exciting opportunity to lead this dedicated and selfless group of people. This is my heart’s work, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and serve with the team here at Holy Ground,” Dr. Wright said.
Dr. Wright is an experienced executive leader with a background in nonprofit organizational management, including organization development, leadership development, supervision, team management, group facilitation, community change, and DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) training. She leads collaboratively and with a team-based approach to innovating and problem-solving.
Dr. Wright earned a Doctorate in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (Public Relations) from Florida A&M University. She is also a board-certified coach. Dr. Wright is active in our community and is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Delta Mu Delta; Christ Evangelical Church; and the Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program.
She was most recently employed by the Health Council of Southeast Florida, where she served as the Organizational Development Manager. Her experience includes serving as the CEO of Wright Ideas Unlimited, the vice president of Organization Development at Neighborhood House Association in San Diego, and the Executive Director at both Partnership for Neighborhood Initiatives and Bethel House, Inc., here in Palm Beach County.
“I have already witnessed the impact of Holy Ground’s work on the lives of the young women we serve. My hope is to make a lasting, positive impact on their lives and on reducing homelessness in Palm Beach County,” said Dr. Wright.
Holy Ground is thrilled to have a woman of Dr. Wright’s
caliber and experience as part of our family.
We can’t wait for you to meet her!
Why we so strongly believe in Holy Ground’s long-term, independent living model:
This 5-minute video depicts a theory of change from the Frontiers of Innovation community for achieving breakthrough outcomes for vulnerable children and families. It describes the need to focus on building the capabilities of caregivers and strengthening the communities that together form the environment of relationships essential to children’s lifelong learning, health, and behavior.
